Application Deadline: December 15th, 11:59 pm CST
Who should apply for the Moreau Scholarship?
The Moreau Scholarship seeks to recognize students who are graduating from a Holy Cross high school and who have been outstanding representatives of Holy Cross values in the classroom and in their community. The ideal Moreau Scholar has a strong academic profile, significant leadership, and involvement in community service.
What is the Moreau Scholarship?
St. Edward’s may select one graduating student from each Holy Cross high school each year to receive the Moreau Scholarship.
The Moreau Scholarship covers full tuition at St. Edward’s for the first year, and is renewable for that same dollar amount in subsequent years (for up to four years in total). The scholarship does not cover room and board. Students must maintain a 3.0 minimum GPA and complete required annual service hours while enrolled at St. Edward’s to remain eligible for the scholarship.
How to Apply
To be considered for the Moreau Scholarship, all required documents must be received by the St. Edward’s Office of Admission no later than 11:59 pm (CST) on December 15th.
Late submissions will not be considered. We recommend that you submit all documents well before the deadline, and contact the Office of Admission (admit@stedwards.edu) to confirm that everything has been received.
1) Complete Your Admission Application:
Complete your admission application to St. Edward’s, including all required documents, by the Moreau Scholarship deadline. Make sure your application is complete by checking your St. Edward’s admission portal. The content of both your admission application and your scholarship application will be considered by the Moreau Scholarship Committee.
2) Submit the Moreau Scholarship Application Form and Essay:
Moreau Scholarship Application Form: You will need to log into your St. Edward’s admission portal, or create an account, to access the application form. Contact the Office of Admission (admit@stedwards.edu) during business hours (9 am - 5 pm, Mon - Fri) for help with login issues.
Moreau Scholarship Essay: Submit an essay of approximately 500 words in response to the following prompt:
Which of the following Holy Cross principles has had the biggest impact on your life? How does it guide you? Share an example of how you have put that principle into action to benefit others.
- Development of the mind
- Cultivation of the heart
- Zeal for service
- Encouragement of hope
- Uniting with others as a family
3) Provide one Letter of Recommendation:
Please have your recommender send their letter to admit@stedwards.edu.
If we already have a letter of recommendation on file that was submitted for your St. Edward’s admission application, it can also fulfill the requirement for the Moreau Scholarship application. However, we encourage you to provide a letter specifically addressing your candidacy for the Moreau Scholarship.
4) (Optional) Submit a Video Profile:
You have the option to bring your application to life by recording a short video highlighting an activity or issue that you are passionate about.
Videos should be less than 3 minutes in length. You may upload your video to any platform (YouTube, Google Drive, etc.) and provide the link in your application form. Make sure that the privacy settings allow anyone with the link to view, so that all members of the scholarship committee can watch it.
Selection of Moreau Scholarship Recipients
The Moreau Scholarship Committee will review all eligible applications, and notify applicants of scholarship decisions by mid-February.
The committee may also place one or more applicants on a waitlist for the scholarship at each high school. If the student originally offered the Moreau Scholarship declines the award, it will then be offered to the next student on the waitlist at that high school, if applicable.
